Legions
Mark 5:9 And he asked him, What [is] thy name? And he answered, saying, My name [is] Legion: for we are many.
Luke 8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
I Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
When I read the above first two verses, I prayed what does Legion means and to understand what is "for we are many". The Holy Spirit revealed to me the meaning to me in a field that I understand and work in. Computers are my living and therefore I could relate with the above verses.
I could understand that the digital personal computer of today is a type and shadow of a human being. Humans comprise of a body, a soul, and a spirit. A personal computer comprises of hardware, firmware (bios (basic input/output subroutines) and an operating system software, OS, like Windows), and the application software. I could go on comparing the two with many examples.
The application software program has one major purpose or task. It has the main theme on what to do. It has names like "Spell Checker", "TurboTax", "Microsoft Word", and so on. These programs comprise of many subroutines or mini programs to make the main theme or application program to work. This is the same manner as many small devils are in Legion - for they are many Windows subroutines or Unix daemons and subroutines to make it work. Unix is another OS.
This main application program cannot do anything without the bios and operating system program along with it. When the application program wants to print a document, it will request the OS to print it and then the OS through the bios will print the document to a hardware printer.
Where am I going with this? Jesus want to be you’re the Main Application Program of life. He is the Main Holy Spirit. His Spirit enables your human spirit to be blessed and glorify Him by using your human body. The devil wants to alter your bios or OS in not running the main Program Spirit called Jesus. The devil attacks the soul in trying to remove the Living Spirit from the human body. It is just like removing a subroutine driver to a printer, which then will make it not work.
It’s that simple!
