Why You Must Repent?

Why you must repent you may ask. Let us see what God's Word have to say on this subject. God told Moses he must return to Egypt. He was then to ask Pharaoh to let His people, the Israelite slaves, go. God then hardens Pharaoh's heart. This at first glance it appears God gave conflicting situations, Moses to get God's people free, and then He hardens Pharaoh's heart thus preventing them leaves Egypt. God does have a working plan and that plan will lead to you and me to our salvation. I counted fourteen verses when God hardens Pharaoh's heart therefore this is a very important concept to understand. Here are but three verses.

King James Version

Exodus 4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.

Exodus 10:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:

Exodus 11:10 And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

Amplified Version

Exodus 4:21 And the Lord said to Moses, when you return into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all these miracles and wonders which I have put in your hand: but I will make him stubborn and harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.

Exodus 10:1 The Lord said to Moses, Go to Pharaoh, for I have made his heart hard, and his servant's hearts, that I might show these My signs [of divine power] before him.
Exodus 11:10 Moses and Aaron did all these wonders and miracles before Pharaoh; and the Lord hardened Pharaoh's stubborn heart. And he did not let the Israelites go out of his land.

I prayed to the Holy Spirit for an understanding of this conflict. He said His Holy Spirit falls upon everyone equally.  He is everywhere. He is omnipresent. He revealed to me that His Holy Spirit is very much like a ray of sunshine. This sunshine comes from a very powerful single point of power. That power shines in all directions and falls upon everything it touches. It brings forth life and death and this light overcomes dark.

You take a pound of butter and a pound of wet clay and place both in this sunshine. The sunshine ray beats down on these items equally. What is the result of this action? Over a short period of time, one will melt and the other will harden.  This is exactly what happens in the above verses. God molded Moses and prepared him to get the Israelites and God at the same time prevented this by hardening Pharaoh's heart.

Now what does this have to do with us, you and me? We were all born with a Pharaoh's heart. We were born in Sin. Our nature is sinful at the very best and we naturally rebelled against God. At our natural birth, we are the sons or daughters of the devil. We were born into sin from the actions of Adam and Eve when they sinned against God. The penalty of this sin is death. We are destined to die in sin if we did not have God's intervention. This is God's Law!

One amazing fact is that when God created us, He created us in His image. He gave us a freedom to choose on what is right and what is wrong. We, by our own choice, could give praise and thanksgiving to Him or we could curse Him (May God forbid). We could continue to live in Sin or we could be Saved. It is our choice!

King James Version -Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Amplified Bible - Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him: male and female He created them.

What is so good about God's Good News or Gospel, He gave us an out. He gave us a plan of salvation. We must first repent! We must have a change of heart. We must choose the old man must die and a new man must be born again. I will cover this topic at later message. If we repent, change our hearts from clay to butter, God could mold and mend our hearts in any manner He chooses. His "sunshine" pours upon us all equally and we will flow freely in His will and directions.  We will be saved after we repent and change our hearts. This is very important! We will be saved after we repent and change our hearts!
